Tottenham transfer news: £12m bid made for 'unreal' PL forward
It is looking increasingly likely that Trossard will leave the Seagulls before the end of the January transfer window. He has been in outstanding form so far this season, scoring seven goals.
However, The Athletic notes that he has been frozen out of first-team contention by Roberto De Zerbi after an incident in training last week.
Tottenham made Trossard bid
And Tottenham appeared to sense an opportunity. The Athletic reports that Spurs made a £12 million bid for the 28-year-old. But Brighton turned down the offer, with the club set to demand considerably more.
It is claimed that Spurs are yet to follow that initial interest up. So perhaps it may be something that Antonio Conte’s men look at later in the window.
Brighton right to want a lot more
It is no surprise that Brighton have rejected such a bid for Trossard. Clearly, it is hard to see him becoming a key player for the club again. But he is a very talented forward with a very good record in the Premier League.
He has been ‘unreal‘ this season. And he has already found the back of the net seven times. Harry Kane is the only Tottenham player who has bettered that tally so far this term.
Spurs definitely need further signings. Unfortunately, their North London derby loss on Sunday highlighted that there is still a long way to go before Antonio Conte’s men are battling for silverware again on a consistent basis.
Trossard has an ability to play across the forward line. And he would not need too much time to adapt to his surroundings if he made the move to North London.
With around a fortnight left in the window, it would be no surprise if this was not the last we heard of Tottenham’s pursuit of Trossard.
