Arsenal have announced the signing of Gabriel Jesus but they aren’t done yet and have reportedly put a bid in for Lazio’s Sergej Milenkovic-Savic.

According to a report from Il Messaggero, both Arsenal and Newcastle have made bids of over £40m to try and sign Milinkovic-Savic, who is expected to move on from Lazio this summer. However, while those big money bids are in, the Rome club are not expected to accept such a figure, and will demand upwards of £50m.

The ‘astonishingly gifted’ midfielder has already been linked with Arsenal once this summer. But with the Gunners have so many other transfer deals spinning at the same time, no progress has been made until now. Il Messaggero state that a bid is now in from Arsenal, as they look to press on with other deals.

What this means for Arsenal’s pursuit of other midfielders like Youri Tielemans, remains to be seen. The Belgian has been a top target for the Gunners, but interest appears to have cooled a tad lately.

Tottenham have also been linked with a move for Milinkovic-Savic, although there interest, like Arsenal’s with Tielemans, does appear to have drifted away as well.

TBR’s View: Milenkovic-Savic Can Be The Steel For Arsenal In Midfield

They’ve signed the flair players in Jesus and Vieira, now it could be about ensuring they are a tough team to bully and break down, and Milenkovic-Savic doesn’t half tick those boxes.

The giant midfielder has a bit of everything in his game and it’s little wonder Lazio want big money. But for Arsenal, it would be money well spent and give them a huge boost in the middle of the park.

Should Edu pull this one off as well, then Arsenal fans might need a bit of a lie down come the end of the window!
