Arsenal and Liverpool-linked Koopmeiners confirms he is in talks over transfer

Liverpool and Arsenal-linked ace Teun Koopemeiners has claimed he is holding talks over a transfer.

The midfielder is reportedly a target for both Premier League clubs this summer.

According to De Telegraaf, the Gunners are monitoring the midfielder. Meanwhile, AS have claimed the Merseysiders will launch a move for the ace, who will cost less than £20m.

And what a signing he would be for either of those clubs.

Koopmeiners was in brilliant form last season, scoring 17 times despite being a defensive midfielder.

Speaking to Voetbal International, the ace said he has made AZ Alkmaar aware of his situation.

When talking about a move, Koopmeiners said: “I am not a player who is going to fake injuries or play weird games. I have told the club who I am talking to and how things are going. We have been in constant close contact when clubs have come forward.”

“There are clubs where I could have been by now, so to speak. But then more clubs came, that also plays a part. In that sense, it is a luxury problem, which makes it more difficult because you start talking and thinking again.”

Koopmeiners could transform Liverpool or Arsenal midfield

Koopmeiners can transform both the Liverpool and Arsenal midfield amid his claims over holding talks.

The player’s goal-scoring prowess is impressive, especially when you factor in the fact he is a defensive midfielder.

Arsenal have lacked any sort of threat from midfield ever since the departure of Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman was synonymous for breaking into the box and scoring important goals.

However, that is no longer the case and Mikel Arteta’s central men combined to score just two Premier League goals last campaign.

Meanwhile, Liverpool also suffer from a similar issue.

Industry has been the name of the game across midfield since Jurgen Klopp’s arrival. You can’t deny whichever trio plays at the heart of the Reds, they work their socks off.

But goals have been a real problem.

Gini Wijnaldum was the prime suspect for breaking beyond the forwards and scoring important goals. His strikes versus Barcelona in the Champions League bear testament to that.

But his departure means Liverpool will need a replacement.

Adding the Dutchman to their ranks would be a delightful move from both clubs.
