Liverpool are showing plenty of faith in Arne Slot with some bold summer business.

The Dutchman is being backed emphatically in the transfer market, with Liverpool already spending £270m on the likes of Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Hugo Ekitike.

Another expensive addition could follow, as TBR Football understand Alexander Isak is confident of sealing a move to Liverpool this summer.

The Reds are willing to hand Newcastle over £120m and pay the Swede a salary worth more than £300,000-a-week.

Now – during an interview with The AthleticArne Slot might have revealed that Alexander Isak is set to arrive on Merseyside.

Arne Slot admits he is still open to “quality” additions despite plenty of squad depth

The Dutchman has now admitted he is ready to bring more “quality” to the attacking department at Liverpool despite already having plenty of options – which could well be a hint towards the Newcastle No.14 joining.

Slot said: “There are enough options for me to choose from, but as I always say, another thing about Liverpool is that if we see a chance in the market, we never hesitate to bring someone in.

“In the end, it’s about quality, and we have already made some very good signings. In terms of quality, we are already in the right place.”

Alexander Isak has already hurt Arne Slot

Slot – who is testing a new tactic at Liverpool – actually managed to catch a glimpse of Isak in person when the Swede was just 20 years of age.

Isak was playing for Willem II on loan from Borussia Dortmund in the second half of the 2018/19 season, and caused AZ Alkmaar – where Slot was working as an assistant to John van den Brom at the time – some problems.

The Solna-born striker scored the equaliser against AZ Alkmaar in the semi-final of the KNVB Cup before also netting the winning penalty.

Isak would later go on to become the first foreigner to score 12 goals in his first 12 Eredivisie games in April 2019 of that season.

Now, Slot could be about to embark on a dynasty at Liverpool with the Sweden international on his side, years after witnessing his emergence at Willem II.
