Arne Slot spotted trying brand new tactic in Liverpool training – and it might suit Alexander Isak

Arne Slot made his debut campaign at Liverpool look relatively simple.

The Dutchman steered Liverpool to the Premier League title with apparent ease, finishing ten points ahead of Arsenal.

However, many have often spoken about ‘second season syndrome’ in English football – recently, the likes of Marcelo Bielsa and Patrick Vieira have lost their jobs at Leeds and Crystal Palace despite impressing in their maiden campaigns as Premier League managers.

Arne Slot is seemingly keen to keep opponents on their toes – potentially wary of the same happening to him next season – as Liverpool have been seen adopting a new tactic out in Tokyo.

Liverpool spotted practising long throws and flicks

The Athletic state that Liverpool placed a “focus” on creating goalscoring opportunities from long throws during training out in Tokyo.

It is said that the session was based on winning the first ball and ensuring a chance was created from a flick, with Wataru Endo described as delivering the best throw, which Darwin Nunez – who impressed throughout – turned into an opportunity for Alexis Mac Allister to score.

If the Uruguay international – who stands at 6ft 2in – was able to bring this new tactic to life, it could suit Alexander Isak even better.

Alexander Isak could soon help Arne Slot’s new tactic as Richard Hughes works on deal

TBR Football understand Liverpool are working on a deal for Isak after the Swede decided not to show up at Newcastle’s training ground – informing Eddie Howe that he is working on an individual programme at home.

Should a move to Anfield materialise for the man born in Solna, he could experience plenty of joy with this new tactic.

Isak stands at a towering 6ft 4in and has scored 12 headers throughout his career – also boasting impressive upper body strength – so we would expect the Sweden international to win the first ball from these long throws quite often next season.

With other dangerous, smaller forwards such as Mohamed Salah and Florian Wirtz lurking in the box to sniff out the loose ball, this tactic could well cause chaos for opponents next term.
