Reports have revealed that Alexander-Arnold is interested in a move to Real Madrid too.

Ben Jacobs has now had his say on the Liverpool defender’s future, and he has revealed that Slot is keen to keep hold of Alexander-Arnold.

The new Liverpool boss has already decided which position he will deploy the 24-year-old in and has even planned to make him a part of his leadership group for next season – just like Klopp did in the 2023/24 campaign.

That could potentially help in contract talks, which is probably why Liverpool are said to be calm despite Real Madrid’s interest in him.

Jacobs told GiveMeSport: “Trent Alexander-Arnold will hold talks with Arne Slot. The Liverpool manager has already decided on where he will play and wants to make him part of the players’ leadership team, which will help with any new deal discussions.

“Slot is expected to share more details about Trent’s role after they have spoken face-to-face but has remained coy for now.

“Liverpool are calm despite Real Madrid’s interest. They are not planning for an Alexander-Arnold exit, and Real are not actively working on a transfer at this stage.”

Real Madrid may have a secret weapon in race to sign Alexander-Arnold

Real Madrid have been excellent with their recruitment of players on free transfers.

In recent years, the European champions have brought in the likes of Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba and most recently Kylian Mbappe on a free.

Reports have revealed that Jude Bellingham’s friendship with Alexander-Arnold could prove decisive in Real Madrid’s hopes of signing the Liverpool man.

It is claimed that a few players in England’s Euro 2024 squad believed that Bellingham’s relationship with Alexander-Arnold is so strong that it could lure the Liverpool star to Real Madrid in 2025.
