Conor Bradley has lauded Trent Alexander-Arnold after coming in for the Liverpool star for their win over Bournemouth on Sunday.

The Reds made a real statement with their performance at the Vitality Stadium, moving five points clear at the top of the Premier League table. Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota both scored twice for the visitors in the emphatic victory.

Of course, the win was particularly impressive because Liverpool were without the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Wataru Endo and Mohamed Salah.

It was Conor Bradley who came in for Alexander-Arnold at Bournemouth. And the 20-year-old went on to produce an outstanding performance.

Bradley got an assist for Jota. Meanwhile, he won three tackles and made three clearances, according to Whoscored.

It was an incredibly mature performance as he made his Premier League debut in the win. But of course, he faces a nearly impossible task trying to put some kind of pressure on Alexander-Arnold.

And speaking on Sky Sports (broadcast on 21/1; 18:40), Bradley was asked about trying to step into the void the 25-year-old has left while he is injured.

“Yeah, don’t know how easy that is. But obviously, Trent’s unbelievable. He’s been in unbelievable form this season so yeah, I’ve just got to keep trying to do my best for the team and see where it takes me,” he said.

Reds clearly have a very capable understudy

Bradley has been handed a difficult start to this run in the Liverpool first-team. He came on against Arsenal in the FA Cup when the tie was still in the balance, with Alexander-Arnold lauding Bradley’s impact at the Emirates.

And he has now come in and shone at a time when many would have expected them to really struggle without Alexander-Arnold.

Clearly, he is not at the England international’s level. But he has shown that he is a very capable understudy.
