Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte was a happy man last night after his side smashed five past Frank Lampard’s Everton.
Spurs’ win yesterday closes the gap between themselves and Manchester United to just two points. The North Londoners have two games in hand over the Red Devils as well, which makes them the favourites to finish above them this season.
However, things will not be easy for Spurs, who although looked absolutely incredible against the Toffees last night, have been really inconsistent over the last few weeks.
One way Tottenham can silence their doubters is by picking up a win over Manchester United this weekend. Conte claims he told his players right after the game last night to forget about Everton and to start thinking about the fixture on Saturday.
Antonio Conte: I told Tottenham players to start thinking about Manchester United
The Italian said after his side’s thumping 5-0 win over Everton last night, as per Football London: “Tonight was good for many aspects but I think also in the other games we played a good game.
“At the same time I want to tell you what I said to my players: ‘Ok this is the past and enjoy the game tonight but from tomorrow you have to think about Saturday’s game against United’.
“They’re a really strong team, a team that in my opinion, a squad that is ready to fight for the Premier League and every competition that they play in. It will be a real challenge for us and I want to see the answer, the answer about my players and also myself.
“Now we have 12 games to play until the end of the season. I listen and you ask me in every press conference about the top-four race. I said to my players that it’s right to take responsibility about this because I think that from when I arrived to now, we are stronger.”

TBR View:
Tottenham were really good last night and if Antonio Conte’s side were even more clinical, they could have scored five more goals.
A win as emphatic as the one yesterday will give Spurs a lot of confidence. If they play like they did last night, they will win a lot more games than they’ll lose and Conte will be hoping for just that.
If Tottenham can beat Manchester United this weekend, they will leapfrog them in the table and sit right below their fierce North London rivals, Arsenal.
That could potentially make it a two-horse race for the fourth spot, but it will not be easy, especially as United will be looking to bounce back after their hammering against Manchester City on Sunday.
