Conte is about to pull off his biggest Tottenham masterstroke yet, amid N'Golo Kante links - TBR View
Tottenham pay huge amounts to have Antonio Conte as their manager but it could be about to pay dividends.
The Spurs boss has been backed to the tune of more than £100m this summer, with a willingness from potential signings to join Conte being one of the key factors. The likes of Richarlison and Yves Bissouma arrived for big money in the summer, while Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur have proven to be shrewd January acquisitions.
Of course, no player is earning what Conte is at Tottenham. The Daily Mail reports he’s on around £13m a year, a figure which dwarfs even the likes of Harry Kane’s wage.
However, that £13m-a-year could be about to yield it’s biggest result yet, if reports surrounding N’Golo Kante come true.
Conte Luring Kante Would Be Tottenham Masterstroke
Reports from L’Equipe this afternoon claim that Conte’s relationship with Kante could be key in Spurs signing the French midfielder next summer. Kante is out of contract, and is yet to sign a new one with Chelsea.
Dubbed ‘magic‘ by Ally McCoist following a Champions League tie against Real Madrid, Kante would certainly be the sort of signing that could take Tottenham to that next level.
In Kante, we are talking about a player who’s won the Champions League, World Cup, Premier League, and improved any XI wherever he has played. Certainly, without being disrespectful, Kante is an upgrade current midfield duo Pierre Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur, despite their obvious qualities.
Ultimately, if Conte can prove to be the main factor in Spurs landing the Frenchman, then that £13m salary suddenly appears even more value for money. Of course, Conte has already proved to be a brilliant appointment by Spurs and Daniel Levy.
But if Conte means getting Kante, then it’s the sort of boost in terms of player quality Levy will have dreamed about when appointing the Italian.
