Destiny Udogie has admitted that he loves playing alongside Tottenham Hotspur captain Heung-Min Son.

Speaking to Spurs Play, the defender reflected on netting his first goal for Tottenham against Newcastle United on Sunday.

Heung-Min Son put in an exceptional display for Spurs over the weekend as he grabbed two assists and a goal to help them to a 4-1 win over the Magpies.

The 31-year-old’s first assist of the game got Spurs on their way as he beat Kieran Trippier before setting up Destiny Udogie for a simple tap-in.

It was a captain’s performance at a time when Tottenham needed it after failing to pick up a win in five games beforehand.

After opening his account for Spurs and penning a new long-term deal with the club, Udogie has been speaking about his skipper Son.

Udogie lauds Tottenham captain Son

Speaking to Tottenham’s media team, Udogie discussed his first goal for Tottenham. The Italian full-back lauded Son and admitted he finds it easy to play alongside him, as well as Dejan Kulusevski.

“I think playing with Sonny and Deki [Kulusevski] was really simple because obviously Sonny is a top player and it’s so easy to play with him,” Udogie said. “The connection it just came along.

“When I get the ball, I try to find him and I think he does the rest, he gave me the assist.”

Udogie was then jokingly asked if he will compete with Son for the Golden Boot after grabbing his first Spurs goal.

“No,” he laughed. “I think Sonny’s another level. But we will see.”

Son has starred under Ange Postecoglou’s guidance this season and is back to his best after a difficult campaign last time out.

The £22 million man has mainly operated as the striker this term, netting 10 goals in 16 Premier League appearances.

Yet, he moved back out to the left-hand side on Sunday and it’s fair to say his level of performance didn’t drop.

The South Korean star looked a real threat out wide and linked up brilliantly with Udogie.

It will be intriguing to see if Postecoglou sticks with Son in a wide position as the front three of Son, Richarlison and Brennan Johnson worked well against Newcastle.
