Tottenham confirmed yesterday that Destiny Udogie has signed a new contract, and James Maddison and Micky van de Ven are delighted for him.

There have been a lot of positives at Spurs since the start of the season. Ange Postecoglou‘s system has brought the best out of many players, and the most exciting talent among all of them is arguably young Udogie, who has been incredible.

Micky van de Ven and James Maddison react after Destiny Udogie signs new Tottenham contract

Tottenham signed Destiny Udogie from Udinese last year for an initial £15 million fee (Sky Sports).

The Italian was sent back to Stadio Friuli for a season on loan, but since his return, Udogie has been up there with the best left-backs in the Premier League. Gary Neville even compared him to Patrice Evra.

The 21-year-old has been a breath of fresh air for Spurs fans at left-back. He is rapid, excellent on the ball and his attacking runs have made Tottenham such a dangerous side.

Daniel Levy and co have spotted Udogie’s performances, and they were quick to offer him a new contract to protect his value.

The Italian has now been tied down to a new deal until the summer of 2030, which is amazing news if you’re a Tottenham fan.

Udogie took to Instagram to celebrate his new contract yesterday. James Maddison and Micky van de Ven are both delighted for him.

The Englishman wrote: “Fully deserved brother! Don’t spend it all at once.”

Van de Ven added: “Yesss broerrr!”

Great news for Tottenham

Daniel Levy is often criticised by Tottenham fans and rightly so, but he deserves praise for securing Destiny Udogie’s long-term future.

The Italian has the potential to become one of the best left-backs in the world. He’s still just 21 and under Postecoglou, he will only get better in the coming years.

If Udogie only had a year or two left on his contract, we’re sure there would be plenty of interest from big clubs to lure him away.

Now that he has been tied down until 2030, Tottenham are in a very strong position and are at no risk of losing him at all – at least not for a small fee.
