Ange Postecoglou has replaced Nuno Espirito Santo at Nottingham Forest.

Evangelos Marinakis has opted to sack the man born in Sao Tome after a breakdown in their relationship, amid allegations of disagreements over the style of football Nottingham Forest play.

Ange Postecoglou is expected to deliver a more attacking philosophy – whereas Nuno Espirito Santo likes to play a deeper line focused on countering opponents – and there is one forward who could thrive under the man born in Nea Filadelfeia.

Ange Postecoglou will relish chance to finally work with ‘perfect’ Callum Hudson-Odoi

A story from The Sun posted back in March 2024 claimed that Postecoglou wanted Tottenham to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi from Nottingham Forest.

It was explicitly written that the 60-year-old viewed the England international as a “perfect fit” for his attack.

Now, with Nottingham Forest appointing Postecoglou – who Marinakis publicly praised in July – the pair will finally unite, albeit at the City Ground rather than in north London after a surprise turn of events.

Hudson-Odoi, who Harry Kane has praised, scored five goals and provided three assists in 31 Premier League appearances last season, and already has one goal in three Premier League outings this term.

Since his £5m arrival from Chelsea in September 2023, the Nottingham Forest No.7 has scored 14 goals and assisted a further six in 73 games.

Brennan Johnson has already proven that Ange Postecoglou could work wonders with Callum Hudson-Odoi

It feels like Hudson-Odoi has been around for ages, but he is still just 24, and with Postecoglou at the helm, he could take his goalscoring numbers to new heights.

The Australian seemed to place a lot of emphasis on wingers attacking the back post at Tottenham, with Brennan Johnson often arriving in the right place to tap home.

Last season even saw the Nottingham Forest academy graduate score 18 goals in 51 appearances, with most of those coming as back-post finishes.

Hudson-Odoi is typically a touchline winger who likes to have the ball to feet and run at players, but the arrival of Postecoglou could streamline his game significantly.
