Ange Postecoglou has given his reaction to the news this week that Fraser Forster has signed a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur until the end of next season.
Postecoglou has – in comments reported by Football London – lauded the goalkeeper and insisted that he is an example to everyone else at Hotspur Way with his attitude.
Fraser Forster has proved to be a very decent signing for Tottenham. Understandably, there was not a lot of fanfare when he made the move. But he did well whenever he came into the side. In fact, Forster made a magnificent save against AC Milan in the Champions League when he got his chance.
Ange Postecoglou praises Fraser Forster
He has been the understudy to Guglielmo Vicario this season. Nevertheless, Tottenham decided to extend Forster’s contract by another year.

It may not be an announcement which creates too much of a buzz amongst Spurs fans on social media. However, Ange Postecoglou has suggested that it is indeed significant that he is sticking around.
“I’m delighted we have signed Fraser on for another year. His training is elite level and he is a Premier League-standard keeper absolutely,” he said, as reported by Football London.
“Often in most squads it is the guys who aren’t playing regularly who affect the mood but to have a guy like him is a hell of an example to everyone else. I’m delighted to have him on board for at least another year and hopefully beyond that.”
Tottenham’s goalkeeper ranks looking strong
The goalkeeper position has been one of the only positions not to give Ange Postecoglou a headache so far this season. Of course, the Tottenham squad has been decimated by injuries in recent weeks.
But Vicario has been a revelation since his arrival in the summer. And Forster has shown that he can do a decent job whenever he is required.
Certainly, Forster appears to be helping push Vicario.
Tottenham were ready to move on from Hugo Lloris in the summer. Lloris’ form had been in a steady decline for a couple of years. And it just seemed that all parties needed a fresh start in the summer.
Nevertheless, Lloris has been an amazing servant for the club. And obviously, he was previously captain. So that transition could have been incredibly difficult.
However, Vicario is doing superbly. And Forster deserves credit for his part in helping Spurs move on from the Frenchman.
