Ange Postecoglou has now responded to claims that Eric Dier is now a transfer target for Premier League rivals West Ham.

The 29-year-old defender has played a bit-part role for Tottenham this season, with Postecoglou having a new plan in place for who he wants to feature at the back for the north London side.

With Dier no longer considered an option, transfer interest has begun to emerge for the England international, with West Ham the latest reported side.

And speaking to the press, Postecoglou addressed these ongoing rumours, with the Australian coach said when asked about West Ham’s interest in Dier: “No idea, not on my radar.”

When later asked if Dier can leave this window, Postecoglou said: “I think Eric is contracted to this football club and he’s in charge of his own destiny as much as anyone else.”

Indeed, Postecoglou’s answers did little to encourage Tottenham fans that Dier would be sold this month, though the Tottenham manager’s comments could shed some light on what might happen soon.

It doesn’t take an expert to realise that Postecoglou isn’t Dier’s biggest fan, with the Tottenham manager seemingly open to selling the former Sporting Lisbon man this window.

Whether or not it is to West Ham, it appears that the mission to get the centre-back off Spurs’ books this month is well underway, with Postecoglou eager to improve his squad.

And selling Dier to the Hammers would do just that, especially with Tottenham reportedly closing in on the signing of Romanian international Radu Dragusin.
