Ange Postecoglou has now revealed that Dane Scarlett caught his eye in training at Tottenham this week.

The 58-year-old made the comment when speaking in his press conference earlier on Friday.

So, what did Ange Postecoglou say about Tottenham wonderkid Dane Scarlett? Let’s take a look…

Ange Postecoglou impressed by Dane Scarlett

Well, the Australian said that the door is always open for the 19-year-old after he performed well at Hotspur Way this week.

Postecoglou was quoted by Beanyman Sports as saying: “The door is never closed. He trains with us every day. For all the players, they are all in the same boat, that door is always open. If you are waiting for some secret magic door to open that doesn’t exist. The door is always open, they have an opportunity every day to put themselves in front of me and the coaches and make an impact and wait for their opportunity.

“Dane has had a difficult season but it’s great we got him some game time with the under-21’s. That was important as if you look at the match minutes he has played it’s way too low. That has helped him and he has trained well this week.”

Scarlett made 12 Championship appearances on loan at Ipswich Town earlier this season – although those outings only amounted to 145 minutes of action.

Tottenham then recalled the teenager due to his lack of playing time.

Scarlett – who Jose Mourinho called an “incredible talent” – has since played seven minutes of FA Cup football for Spurs, and 45 minutes in the Premier League 2 with the U21 side.

Tottenham need to get Dane Scarlett back on track

It was not long ago that people were tipping Scarlett to develop into a better forward than Heung-min Son.

The England U20 international possesses an enormous amount of potential, but unfortunately, the loan to Portman Road was not a very fruitful one.

Now, Scarlett finds himself at a crossroads.

Hopefully, Tottenham can get him playing regularly again for the U21 side, before steering him thoroughly back on track this summer, whether that be another loan or a promotion to the first-team.
