Andros Townsend sends cheeky message to man who could take Tottenham pre-season training
Ryan Mason could reportedly take charge of pre-season training at Tottenham Hotspur this summer. Spurs are yet to appoint a replacement for Jose Mourinho, having failed in pursuit of a number of suitors. Now, Andros Townsend has sent a cheeky two-word message to Mason ahead of Tottenham training.
Mason, 30, spent the last couple of months of 2020-21 in charge following Mourinho’s sacking. While he lost the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City, Mason won four of his six Premier League games in charge – losing to Leeds and Villa. It was expected he would be replaced before pre-season.
But Football London claim pre-season will start on July 5. The Express claimed last week that Mason has been told he could start pre-season training as manager, with moves to get Paulo Fonseca, Antonio Conte and Gennaro Gattuso moves all falling through. Mason posted on Instagram.
What has Townsend told Mason, ahead of taking pre-season training at Tottenham?
A front runner for the job now appears to be ex-Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who left Molineux at the end of last season. Roberto Martinez, Steven Gerrard and Graham Potter are targets. But the Tottenham managerial pursuit has been full of twists and turns.
Will Spurs and Fabio Paratici appoint a new manager this week? Will they get one before Mason is takes pre-season training? Well, Townsend has responded with a cheeky message to Mason’s Instagram, hinting he could be taking charge of the first team, in training.
