Andros Townsend has told BBC Sport that Liverpool target Jude Bellingham has probably cemented his starting spot at the World Cup, labelling the youngster a special talent after his latest England display.
Bellingham has been one of the real shining lights after a really difficult international break for Gareth Southgate’s men. He was one of the players who really stepped up when England went 2-0 down to Germany on Monday.

The Telegraph and the Evening Standard both rated his performance as an 8/10. It was certainly the kind of display which England fans will look back upon in years to come as the moment where Bellingham did not look back.
It always seemed to be just a matter of time before Bellingham did indeed become a regular starter for the Three Lions.

Of course, Liverpool fans have additional reason to keep an eye on the teenager’s display. He has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield in the future. Fabrizio Romano has already stated that the Reds will be in the mix to sign the Borussia Dortmund star next summer.
Townsend will probably hope Bellingham does not move to Merseyside given that he plays for Everton. But he could not hide how impressed he was by his performance at Wembley.
“Jude Bellingham has probably cemented his place next to Declan Rice moving into the World Cup. Such a special talent. So brave on the ball. Not afraid of the occasion or who is playing against or who is he playing for,” he told BBC Sport.
“It was a real pleasure to be here today and witness him in a flesh.”
Bellingham a special talent
It is remarkable just how well Bellingham has been playing this season. He has already found himself on the big stage on a number of occasions during his brief career. And he always seems to step up when needed.
Liverpool absolutely have to strengthen in midfield in one of the coming windows. And for many supporters, Bellingham would be absolutely perfect for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
