'Amazing', 'top' Arsenal-linked centre-back suggests he's keen on Premier League move

Reported Arsenal target Pau Torres has spoken highly of the Premier League, in conversation with Guillem Balague.

The Gunners were linked with the Villarreal defender last year and Marca claimed earlier this year that he remains on Mikel Arteta’s shortlist.

Arsenal are by no means the only Premier League team said to be interested in Torres, however.

And Metro claimed that Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Manchester City had set their sights on Torres.

Arsenal are in dire need of rebuilding, with football.london reporting that they’re looking to bring in players in at least five positions.

The outlet has now published comments from Torres in an interview with Pure Football‘s Balague which suggest he’s open to a move to England.

“The rhythm the game is played at; matches are dynamic with many transitions and I think you can face up to the fastest forwards in football,” he said.

“For the fan it is a very attractive type of football. When I meet Rodri, who I played with at Villarreal, he tells me that he is delighted to be able to play in the league has gone to.

“He also tells me a lot about the respect people have for the footballer.

“For example, he goes down the street with his girlfriend or his family and can go quietly to dinner.

“Nobody bothers him. It’s not that in Spain that they bother because in the end I have also asked my idols for a photo but what happens in England is something to be admired.”

Torres has developed in recent seasons to become one of the best defenders in Spain and it’s little surprise to see him being linked with Arsenal.

“Pau Torres is an amazing player – I think he’s top,’ Villarreal boss Unai Emery recently told football.london.

“I’ve been a coach in Sevilla, PSG, Arsenal and I’ve never seen a centre-back like Pau Torres.

“I think he’s going to play at the highest level, he’s playing now in the national team but he can play in the top teams in the Europe very soon.”

He sounds like a great shout for Arsenal, so if Arteta and Edu could persuade him to move, it would go a long way to improving the team.
