Reported Arsenal and Liverpool target Pau Torres is destined to play at the highest level, according to Unai Emery.
The Gunners were linked with the Villarreal defender last year and Spanish outlet Marca says he remains on Mikel Arteta’s shortlist.
Meanwhile, 90Min reported last year that the Reds were eyeing Torres with a view to a January move in wake of long-term injuries for Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Manchester City have also been linked with a move for the 24-year-old, according to Metro.
Torres has played every minute in La Liga this season and has become a crucial part of Emery’s team as they continue to impress in their pursuit of Champions League qualification.
And the former Arsenal boss believes his player is unlike any centre-backs he’s previously worked with.
“Pau Torres is an amazing player – I think he’s top,’ Emery told football.london.
“I’ve been a coach in Sevilla, PSG, Arsenal and I’ve never seen a centre-back like Pau Torres.
“I think he’s going to play at the highest level, he’s playing now in the national team but he can play in the top teams in the Europe very soon.”
Torres has developed in recent seasons to become one of the best defenders in Spain and it’s little surprise to see him being linked with a move to Arsenal, Liverpool and other huge teams.
He won’t come cheap, however – Marca claims his release clause is worth €50million (around £45million) and, while it may be fairly reasonable for a defender of such high calibre, it’s more the sort of deal you’d imagine being done in the summer.
