Alexis Mac Allister has sent a classy message to Luis Diaz on Instagram after the Liverpool forward took to social media to reflect on Colombia’s agonising defeat in the Copa America final.

Alexis Mac Allister played his part in helping Argentina continue their remarkable run in recent years. The midfielder was not in the squad for the 2021 Copa America win, but he was a stalwart of the teams which won the World Cup the following year, before retaining their Copa America crown this month.

Lautaro Martínez scored the only goal in extra time as Lionel Scaloni’s side beat Colombia in Florida.

Questions over Liverpool star’s future may soon receive answers

Liverpool fans will obviously hope that the pair are teammates for some time to come yet, as the Reds prepare for their new era under Arne Slot.

Mac Allister enjoyed a really impressive first season at Anfield. But there is a question mark over whether Diaz will still be on Merseyside when the transfer window closes.

There have been reports that Diaz wants to leave Liverpool amid interest from Barcelona. And the Reds may feel that they have a tough decision to make should they receive a significant bid for the forward in the coming weeks.

On his day, Diaz is almost unplayable, but perhaps he has not made the impact a player with his talent should have made. Stan Collymore suggested that he would sell Diaz if Liverpool receive a £50 million bid.

But there is a big question mark over what every Liverpool player could do next season with Slot coming in, so perhaps it should not be a surprise if Diaz ends up being one of those who manages to find another gear should he stay.
