Arsenal got their revenge on Brentford yesterday as they saw off the Bees 2-1 at The Emirates to keep themselves in the hunt for the top four.

The Gunners were dominant throughout and eventually broke Thomas Frank’s side down with goals from the young duo, Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka. In the end, it was more than Arsenal deserved, despite Christian Norgaard causing a late scare with an injury time goal.
For Arsenal and their players, it will have been a welcome relief to see off the Bees. Earlier in the season, Brentford had essentially bullied the Gunners into a defeat and at the time, the Bees players loved it. None more so than their talismanic striker, Ivan Toney. The Brentford man had taken to Twitter following that game to almost mock Arsenal.
And it seems that Gunners skipper Alexandre Lacazette hadn’t forgotten, as he posted his own quick-witted tweet last night.
Lacazette has taken the mantle this season and stepped up to the plate as Arsenal skipper. Indeed, he’s done well all season really and Jamie Carragher had pointed to his ‘brilliant’ work-rate earlier in the campaign.
Certainly, it seems like the Frenchman has got his teammates’ back when it comes to on pitch matters.
TBR’s View: Arsenal Showing Battling Qualities Finally
The term ‘soft touch’ has been thrown at Arsenal a lot over the last few years. But they do seem to be developing a resolve of sorts under Arteta.
Yesterday, they needed to be patient and in the end, they got their rewards. Lacazette was key once again as he laid on the first goal and he is proving just why Arteta values him. Surely, then, a new contract might be on the cards?
Arsenal are firmly in the race for the top four. The next few months, then, will be huge.
