Liverpool are set to secure the biggest signing of the summer right at the last minute.

Indeed, it’s transfer deadline day, and Alexander Isak is set to join Liverpool in a British-record transfer.

Alexander Isak joins the Reds late in the day, and after a disrupted summer of no pre-season and training on his own, his adaptation to life at Anfield may not be too easy.

Luckily, there is an international break on the horizon that will allow Isak to build his sharpness and his fitness, and he could be set to hit the ground running on his debut.

Liverpool’s next game is away against Burnley, but perhaps the Reds should wait to give Isak his first taste of Anfield action.

Liverpool should delay Alexander Isak debut

Of course, all Liverpool fans are excited to see Isak in a red shirt, but there’s an argument to make that Liverpool should delay Alexander Isak’s debut further.

Hugo Ekitike has been in great form, so dropping him immediately would perhaps send out the wrong message.

On top of that, Turf Moor isn’t exactly the grandest of stages to unveil your new £130m signing.

Liverpool face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League at Anfield on September 17th, and that could be the perfect stage for Isak to make his full debut.

European nights at Anfield are incredible spectacles, and that could be the ideal stage for Isak to play his first game for Liverpool.

Wayne Rooney also debuted in the Champions League

There is precedent for this sort of thing happening in the past.

Back in 2004, Wayne Rooney joined Manchester United on transfer deadline day.

However, due to a recent injury and a lack of match fitness, Rooney was eased into life at Old Trafford and he didn’t make his debut for almost a month.

The striker would eventually debut against Fenerbahce, scoring a hat-trick on a very memorable Old Trafford evening.

Isak could be set to emulate Rooney by making his debut for Liverpool in the Champions League, and, who knows? Perhaps he could even copy Rooney by scoring a hat-trick on his debut at home in the Champions League.
