Alan Shearer has now been discussing Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal team following their great run of form recently.

Even if it may only be for a brief moment, Arteta has the opportunity to send his Arsenal side top of the league if they can beat Brentford on Saturday.

Liverpool and Manchester City are the late kick off the day after, meaning Arsenal could enjoy a brief stint at the top, or maybe even longer if their two rivals draw.

Perhaps Gabriel Jesus will be reinstated for Arsenal on the weekend, a player who does need minutes ahead of a crucial tie against FC Porto next Tuesday.

But Mikel Arteta will definitely be warning all of his players to not look beyond Saturday, especially given how much Brentford now need a result.

That being said, Alan Shearer has now been discussing the effectiveness of Mikel Arteta’s antics on the Arsenal touchline recently.

Writing in The Athletic, Shearer was considering how much of Arsenal’s good doing can be attributed to Arteta’s orchestrating during games.

And in doing so, the pundit admitted he gets exhausted just watching the Spaniard for 90 minutes.

Alan Shearer can barely believe how active Mikel Arteta is on the Arsenal touchline

Speaking in the piece, Shearer did admit that he wasn’t quite convinced how much those messages would sink in, though.

He explained: “Arteta, for example, is exhausting to watch, a whirling dervish constantly urging his players to move forward or drop back, as if conducting their every move.

“Do the histrionics and constant hand-waving work?

“Results suggest so, although I’m not convinced about how much of it will actually sink in when the game is moving, the pace is blinding, and the atmosphere electric.”

Of course, whether the Arsenal players hear those messages or not, Arteta’s touchline antics are all part of the club and ethos he’s built.

Whilst some may think they’re unnecessary, or some may even be annoyed, Arteta is simply demonstrating his enthusiasm for winning and his commitment to the team.

So from an Arsenal fan point of view, they definitely won’t want to see any change.

But as per Shearer’s words, those same Arsenal fans will probably agree that Arteta gets through almost as much energy as the players he’s puppeteering.

All that being said, Gilberto Silva has now been calling recent criticism of an Arsenal player ‘unfair’.
