Alan Shearer praises Declan Rice’s work rate for Arsenal
Arsenal’s win over Newcastle saw the whole squad come together to show their quality, creating quite a memorable comeback at St. James’ Park.
There were several impressive performances across the team, but perhaps the star who stood out the most was Declan Rice.
The England international showed his usual quality in both defensive ability and attacking prowess, adding the usual set-piece threat he has in his locker.
For Alan Shearer, that was enough to earn Rice a spot in his Premier League team of the week, as he said: “He was everywhere, racing back to deny Jacob Murphy with a brilliant block, before coming up with the crucial assist for Arsenal’s equaliser with an excellent cross.”
The midfielder continues to be the backbone of Arsenal’s success, covering plenty of ground in an attacking and defensive sense.

Declan Rice’s impressive season for Arsenal so far
Declan Rice’s position at Arsenal has been questioned at times, with the arrival of Martin Zubimendi adding a different dimension to the midfield.
However, the 26-year-old continues to show why he is an important part of the spine for the Gunners.
On a disciplinary front, Rice still hasn’t been given a card in the Premier League, showing just how clean he has been in his actions.
That’s despite being in the 82nd percentile for blocked shots per 90, while his attacking stats are incredibly impressive.
Rice is in the 87th percentile for touches and 82nd for dribble success in the Premier League, showing his quality with the play going through him.
His attacking set-pieces add another threat to him, showing that Rice can do absolutely everything.
