Arsenal got back to winning ways against Nottingham Forest at the weekend, and Alan Shearer was impressed by a trio of Arsenal’s summer signings.

The Gunners picked up three points in dominant fashion with a 3-0 win against Forest, ensuring that Ange Postecoglou’s first game in charge wasn’t at their expense.

The win put Arsenal’s defeat against Liverpool in the rear-view mirror as they immediately climbed up to second in the Premier League table to place pressure on Arne Slot’s men.

Mikel Arteta featured a plethora of his new signings against Forest, with Eberechi Eze starting for the first time since joining the Gunners, and they certainly caught the eye.

Alan Shearer believes Martin Zubimendi was ‘outstanding’

Arsenal made plenty of summer signings to prepare for this season, with Viktor Gyokeres being the most notable, as Arteta looked to solve his goalscoring issue.

However, Shearer was impressed with three different players as he selected all of them to be featured in his Premier League team of the week.

Cristhian Mosquera impressed at the back throughout the game, helping Arsenal keep a clean sheet, and he immediately caught Shearer’s eye.

“[He] has stepped in for the injured William Saliba and was easily one of the best players on the pitch.”

Noni Madueke also thrived against Forest, and many Arsenal fans called for him to replace Bukayo Saka in the long term after dazzling them with his attacking qualities.

“[He] scored a great goal for England during the week and carried his form into the Nottingham Forest match. An electric display on the wing.”

However, it was Martin Zubimendi who truly stood out for the Newcastle United legend, with the defensive midfielder having displayed some of his unexpected attacking qualities.

“Outstanding. Scored twice, including a magnificent volley for his first goal. Welcome to the Premier League!”

Martin Zubimendi could make Liverpool regret missing out on him

Zubimendi has made an impressive start to his Arsenal career, immediately slotting into the heart of the midfield and looking assured with his performances.

However, adding goals to his game is something many Arsenal fans weren’t expecting, which has led to some Cesc Fabregas comparisons.

Prior to the Forest victory, Zubimendi had only scored 10 club goals throughout his career, and if he can help the team out offensively, then Liverpool will truly regret not signing him.

The Reds attempted to buy Zubimendi last summer, but despite the deal almost going through, he opted to reject it and stay in Spain for another season.

Arteta ended up taking advantage of that, and now Zubimendi could make Liverpool rue the missed opportunity to sign him throughout the season.
