Agent says Tottenham target Leandro Trossard was 'humiliated' by Roberto De Zerbi

Tottenham Hotspur target Leandro Trossard‘s agent Josy Comhair has accused Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi of ‘humiliating’ the attacker.

Trossard has been one of the Seagulls’ most impressive players since he joined them in 2019. He is a fantastic talent, and his performances this season have been excellent as well.

However, De Zerbi has banished him from his squad, and Trossard wants to leave the club now.

Agent says Tottenham target Leandro Trossard was ‘humiliated’ by Roberto De Zerbi

De Zerbi revealed this week that Trossard has been dropped from Brighton’s squad because he left a training session without saying anything after he was told he will not play against Middlesbrough.

“If he wants to play for Brighton he has to work very hard, run, and be in the right way,” the Brighton boss claimed in his press conference this week.

Trossard’s agent has released a statement now, defending his client. He claims that Belgium international left the training session on the advice of the medical team. He then revealed that De Zerbi ‘humiliated’ him in front of the group.

Comhair said, as quoted by The Guardian: “In the run-up to the match against Middlesbrough for the FA Cup, Leandro had already indicated twice that he had problems with his calf. This was the reason why he stopped training.

“This was, incidentally, in consultation with the medical staff. The manager told Leandro that he had to train separately.

“Last Monday, the manager [De Zerbi] humiliated Leandro in [the] group and indicated that he no longer wanted to see him. A manager who has not communicated directly with his player for four weeks is really incomprehensible.”

Comhair then requested Brighton to let Trossard go. He said: “It is also the manager who has indicated several times that a transfer is the most convenient solution. It is therefore important that Brighton cooperates with a potential transfer during this transfer period and shows a benevolent attitude, which is beneficial to both parties.”

TBR View:

Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move to sign Trossard in recent weeks, and Antonio Conte will be hoping this drama makes it easier for his side to get a deal done.

The Daily Mail reported earlier this week that Spurs had accelerated their interest to sign the Belgian, who has scored seven goals and three assists for Brighton in 16 Premier League appearances this season.

He is a fantastic player, and his versatility of playing anywhere across the front three and also as a wing-back makes him really ‘unique‘ for interested parties.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out, but Spurs will surely not get a better chance of signing him than now.
