Report: Tottenham monitoring Brighton star Leandro Trossard
Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Leandro Trossard, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Brighton star could be tempted by the chance to join Antonio Conte’s men during the January transfer window.
Trossard has been outstanding for the Seagulls this season, scoring seven goals in the Premier League. He is their top goalscorer. And it seems that Brighton face a battle to keep him much longer.
The Daily Mail notes that his contract expires in the summer. And Tottenham are admirers of the Belgian. It is noted that he could be open to making the move to North London. Chelsea, and former boss Graham Potter, are also keen on the forward.

However, Brighton appear to be in a stronger position than the Daily Mail’s report suggests. According to Transfermarkt, the Seagulls have the option to extend the 28-year-old’s deal by a further year. So it would appear that they do not need to panic just yet.
Trossard would be an incredibly exciting signing for Tottenham if a deal was possible this month. He is playing the best football of his Premier League career this season.
Rio Ferdinand suggested that he had been ‘unreal‘ this term. Meanwhile, FBRef lists Phil Foden and Gabriel Martinelli as the players similar to the former Genk man. That provides an insight into just how influential he has been.
Spurs would certainly be delighted if they could add a player of his calibre before the deadline. They have been without Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski of late. And that has highlighted how they need further depth in the final third.
Brighton may be ready to dig their heels in. But with Champions League football on offer immediately, perhaps Tottenham will be hoping that they can make something happen.
