The agent of Reading midfielder John Swift has told LUFC Fan Zone that while Leeds have not been in contact – Elland Road would be an ideal move.

Swift, 26, has been on fire for the Royals this season – producing a huge 16 goal involvements from 18 Championship games. He contract ends in June.

Eight goals and eight assists has caught the attention of Leeds, Burnley and Wolves. The Sheffield Star say the trio are expected to make their move.

Whether that is in January, or pursuing Swift at the end of the season when is on a free – remains to be seen. But the interest is there.

LUFC Fan Zone report on Instagram that they have exclusively spoken to the player’s agent. He confirms there has been no approach from Leeds.

However, Swift’s agent discusses a potential move to Leeds – and he says playing under Bielsa at Elland Road would be a good move for his client.

“There’s been a lot of speculation in the media about different Premiership clubs being interested in John,” Swift’s agent said. “Leeds is a great club.

“Their style of play, manager, and fans would be good for John. No formal approaches have been made that we are aware of by Leeds at this stage.”

Swift agent on Leeds: Reading ace would be a brilliant signing

Not least, because Bielsa has praised the ex-Chelsea academy product in the past. One of a few rare players of other clubs that the Argentine has lauded.

Speaking to Leeds Live back in 2020, Bielsa said Swift is a “great player”, one that he values a lot – complimenting his transition play in midfield.

Leeds need a midfielder – making an offer for Huddersfield ace Lewis O’Brien. Rodrigo De Paul, Michael Cuisance were linked the summer before.

Conor Gallagher, who is shining on loan at Palace, is also said to have been on Victor Orta’s list. So, a midfielder is needed, and Bielsa likes Swift.

It makes sense, then. While there has been no contact as of yet, that could easily change ahead of the January transfer window.
