After being ignored by Conte yesterday, 21-year-old ‘superstar’ needs to leave Tottenham Hotspur in January – TBR View

It was a derby day to forget for Tottenham Hotspur, as Arsenal ran out 3-1 winners at The Emirates.

Goals from Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka secured an important win for Arsenal.

Antonio Conte’s side had a chance to go above Arsenal if they could secure a famous win at the nearest rival’s home ground.

They appeared to give themselves a chance after Harry Kane equalised from the spot.

However, they were 2-1 down quickly after half-time and then went down to ten men when Emerson Royal was sent off.

Conte abandoned any plans to try and win the match at that moment, substituting Son Heung-min and Richarlison.

The Italian manager only had one attacking option off the bench; Bryan Gil.

The 21-year-old, however, kept his seat on the bench warm and was once again unused by Conte.

It’s a sad sight for Tottenham fans, as Conte appeared to throw the towel in, and wouldn’t even give Gil an opportunity to change the game.

If this trend continues, Gil is going to need leave on loan in order to play any football this season.

Gil needs to leave Tottenham on loan

If the decision was up to Bryan Gil, he would have left Spurs on loan in the summer.

Gil was desperate to leave the club on loan and return to Valencia, but wasn’t allowed to go.

Antonio Conte personally blocked the move in August, citing the need for a replacement if Gil left.

However, Conte has named Gil on the bench seven times this season, without using the 21-year-old ‘superstar’.

With Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Moura both injured, Gil is unlikely to get a better chance to play than right now.

Conte has made it clear in the past that he doesn’t believe Gil can cope with the physicality of the Premier League yet.

However, this makes the decision not to loan him out in the summer look like a poor one by Conte.

Gil needs to leave on loan in January to avoid his long-term development being affected.

The decision by Conte not to give Gil a chance yesterday will be a hammer blow to the young man’s confidence.
