‘Advanced talks’: Romano has more bad news for West Ham fans after Lingard blow late last night

West Ham could be about to lose out on another target in the transfer window, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Hoffenheim defender David Raum is set to join RB Leipzig.

The Hammers were dealt a big blow last night as former Manchester United man Jesse Lingard signed for Nottingham Forest.

The Premier League new-boys beat David Moyes to the signing, despite Lingard initially preferring a move to West Ham

90 Min reported that Moyes was keen to reunite with Lingard but the Scotsman hasn’t got his wish. And now it seems they may be set to miss out on another player they had their eye on.

RB Leipzig in advanced talks for Raum

Fabrizio Romano claims that Leipzig are in advanced talks to sign David Raum from Hoffenheim.

The Bundesliga outfit are apparently at the ‘final stages’ of negotiations and the 24-year-old will join them within the coming days.

If the deal goes through, it will be another setback for Moyes in the transfer window as the Athletic reported yesterday that West Ham had held talks with Hoffenheim over Raum.

The German international had a brilliant year in the Bundesliga last season from full-back, scoring three goals and providing 11 assists in just 32 games.

Hoffenheim sporting director Alexander Rosen described Raum as a very quick defender who is one of the most ‘sought-after’ full-backs in Germany.

Raum would have certainly been a great addition to Moyes’ squad but it looks like he is set to join Leipzig. After missing out on Lingard as well, it’s a double blow for West Ham in the summer window.

Lingard spent half of the 2020-21 campaign on loan at the Hammers and was a revelation under Moyes. And despite the player reportedly wanting to move back to the club, he’s ended up at another Premier League side.

Hammers fans will be hoping for some good news soon and that may come in the form of Chelsea striker Armando Broja. In the latest update, Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea are yet to make a decision over Broja.

West Ham will need to move onto other targets swiftly after missing out on Lingard and seemingly Raum as well. The Premier League season gets underway in two weeks and Moyes will be keen to get some more players through the door before then.
