According to reports from Italy, AC Milan are desperate for Newcastle to spend big money on Lucas Paqueta this summer, as the Serie A side cling onto a sell-on clause in the Brazilian’s contract.

Paqueta has been outstanding for Lyon and Brazil this season and recently caught the eye of Newcastle supremo, Mehrdad Ghodoussi. The Magpies have been linked with making a move for Paqueta recently, with their signing of Bruno Guimaraes only stoking those fires.

And according to Milan Live, those at AC Milan are desperate for Newcastle to sign Paqueta owing to a 20% sell-on clause inserted by the Italian outfit when he moved to France.

Should Newcastle pay the reported £58m Lyon want, then Milan stands to make around £10m if the clause is indeed 20% of any fee. Of course, it could be a clause on profit, meaning they stand to gather slightly less.

Paqueta has been one of the standout players in Europe this season and he has helped Lyon to an excellent run in the Europa League. However, as we know, that run was brought to an abrupt half by David Moyes’ West Ham this week.

TBR’s View: Paqueta And Guimaraes Is Dreamland For Newcastle

The signing of Bruno has gone down well enough at St James’ Park so you can only imagine how the addition of Paqueta would go down.

The Brazilian is simply class and on his day, is probably good enough for any team on the continent. Despite reports that Newcastle might be spending less than some imagined this summer, you have to say that if the Lyon star is available, then Newcastle need to go and get him.

Paqueta is a game-changing signing and the Toon Army will be loving it if Guimaraes is getting into the ear of his former teammate.
