'Absolutely outstanding': Arsenal star blown away by £30m PL player Tottenham reportedly want
Tottenham Hotspur would seemingly get the seal of approval from one Arsenal player should they make a move to sign Jordan Pickford in one of the upcoming transfer windows, judging by what Aaron Ramsdale has said about the goalkeeper in an interview with The Times.
Pickford is a divisive character. He has struggled to silence his doubters during his time at Everton.
Nevertheless, he is attracting attention. Tottenham are reportedly admirers of the 27-year-old as they start to plan for life after Hugo Lloris.
Interestingly, it was claimed over the weekend that Everton want to sell Pickford to raise funds for Rafa Benitez in January. His asking price is apparently set at around £30 million. And it did appear that some Toffees fans would not mind seeing Pickford sold.
One of the more intriguing aspects of Pickford’s career is his form for England. He has largely been brilliant whenever he has played for the Three Lions.
But he is facing a fight to keep his spot. And one of those looking to take Pickford’s place is Ramsdale. The Arsenal man has been sensational since moving to the Emirates.
Some would suggest that Ramsdale should now be ahead of Pickford in the England pecking order. But it would seem that the Gunners man is not one of them at this point.
“I have the belief, but it’s whether I believe I can do it in that time. Jordan has been absolutely outstanding,” he told The Times. “It’s going to take a lot to get in front of him. It’s a long way away and anything can happen but keep playing for Arsenal, keep doing well and hopefully I can be in with a shout and see what happens. I’d be very happy to go, to be honest.”
Future Arsenal vs Tottenham battle for England no.1 spot as Ramsdale lauds Pickford?
It remains to be seen if Spurs do follow up on their interest in Pickford by making a move. Should they decide to, there may be a situation where the two North London goalkeepers are the two fighting for the England number one spot.
Ramsdale’s form hints that that position will be his at some stage in the near future. Pickford will certainly have to raise his game, whether he is at Everton or Tottenham.
