‘Absolutely not’, ‘Please no’: Some Everton fans react not happy with links to 61-year-old boss
The managerial search for Everton has now lead to links with Rafael Benitez – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter are irritated with the speculation.
The Toffees are still trying to find their successor to Carlo Ancelotti, who walked away as their manager this summer to take charge at Real Madrid.
According to the Telegraph, Everton’s owner Farhad Moshiri is considering a move for him.
The Merseyside club have reportedly already contacted the 61-year-old to sound out mutual interest. Intriguingly, the Spanish boss currently lives on Merseyside.
Benitez is an experienced manager who’s currently out of work, so is available right now. His last job in England was with Newcastle United.
Unfortunately, his previous spell at Liverpool between 2004-10 is not forgotten so easily by fans of bitter rivals Everton.
Everton fans not impressed by Rafael Benitez rumours
For Everton supporters, they won’t overlook Benitez’s Liverpool connections.
The Spanish manager has been around at so many top clubs in Europe, but he enjoyed a large chunk of success at Anfield.
It’s so vital that the new manager at Goodison Park builds upon the 2020/21 season. Firstly, there is a talented squad of players. Secondly, they made progress to challenge for Europe before finally falling short. Finally, they need to start seeing rewards for their investment.
The wait goes on to see who will be at the helm next season. It won’t be a surprise to see more twists in the manager search.
