Aaron Lennon has said that Tottenham Hotspur need to sign a striker in the January transfer window.

After watching the match against Aston Villa, the former Tottenham winger has named the striker Spurs need to bring in.

So, what has Aaron Lennon said about Tottenham Hotspur? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.

Although Spurs took the lead, Unai Emery’s side came back strongly and picked up all three points in the end.

Former Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon was following the match, and he believes that Spurs need to sign a striker to finish the chances that they are creating.

As you can see, the former Everton and Burnley winger has suggested that Tottenham should try to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford in the January transfer window.

Toney is serving a ban at the moment and will not be available to play until January 2024.

Tottenham Hotspur could struggle to sign Ivan Toney

In my opinion, Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to be able to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford in the January transfer window.

First of all, Tottenham have to pay £100 million for Toney. According to Sky Sports, Brentford want that much in transfer fees.

Secondly, there are other clubs interested in the 27-year-old England international striker. Arsenal have been strongly linked. Chelsea are also looking at him.

I do not think that Toney will pick Tottenham over Arsenal, who are aiming to win the Premier League title this season. But, you just never know in football.

Toney has scored 32 goals and given nine assists in 68 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League table with 26 points from 13 matches, four points behind leaders and North London rivals Arsenal.
