Martin Keown has said that he’s a big fan of new Arsenal signing Ben White.

The Gunners paid Brighton £50million this summer to bring the England international to the Emirates Stadium.

White, who’s featured in pre-season, has joined Mikel Arteta’s squad to try strengthen the defence.

The 23-year-old is a highly rated centre-back, so would surely love to help keep a clean sheet on Friday night when he makes his competitive debut for his new club. His side face newly-promoted Brentford in the opening match of the Premier League season.

Pundit and ex-Arsenal player Keown is blown away by the ability of the defender.

“Ben looks a really good signing and the real deal — a proper player,” Keown told The Sun.

“He was high on interceptions — joint fifth — in the Premier League last season, reads the game really well, is intelligent and can pass the ball.”

However, he’s got the character to go with his ability.
