Alasdair Gold has been talking about Tottenham Hotspur‘s Dane Scarlett in his latest YouTube video and has shared what people at the club have said about the youngster.
Scarlett joined League One outfit Portsmouth on a season-long loan this summer and has got off to a brilliant start on the south coast.
The 18-year-old has bagged three goals and one assist in nine appearances for Pompey.
Portsmouth boss Danny Cowley recently said he feels ‘privileged’ to work with the Spurs youngster and it seems Scarlett has a big future ahead of him.
And people around Spurs are apparently excited about his potential.

Scarlett can become one of the ‘very best’
“It’s down to them, to be honest with you,” Gold said.
“If you ask people around the club, certainly there’s a lot of excitement about Dane. Obviously he’s younger and they believe he can be [the] very best.
“But everyone was saying that about Troy as well. This is the key bit for all of these players, these couple of years between essentially 17-18 until they’re 20-21. We saw when Harry Kane developed as well.
“With Troy, he’s getting some really important loan experiences right now. Preston this year, MK Dons last year. Ipswich before, Millwall as well.
“It all creates him as a player. It’s all down to them [Parrott and Scarlett].”

Parrott is currently playing his football in the Championship with Preston but has got off to a difficult start to the season.
The 20-year-old is yet to score for the Lilywhites but enjoyed a promising loan spell at MK Dons last season.
But Gold says both Parrott and Scarlett are two of the best finishers he’s ever seen at academy level.
“I’ve seen both of them play a lot of academy football and they’re two of the best finishers I’ve seen as young players,” he added.
“But ultimately, it’s which one gets their head down, works the hardest, has a bit of luck because you need that as a young player.”
It’s no wonder that people at Spurs are excited about Scarlett’s potential. The striker boasts an excellent goalscoring record at youth level.
The Tottenham academy product also won the European Championships with the England U19 team over the summer.
It will be interesting if Scarlett can return to North London next summer and push towards becoming a part of Antonio Conte’s squad.
