Matteo Guendouzi wasn’t the most popular of figures during his time at Arsenal.
The French midfielder famously reportedly had a bit of a falling out with Mikel Arteta during his time at the Emirates, and he also rubbed a number of fans up the wrong way.
It’s been a while since Guendouzi left Arsenal, but he may have just influenced a bit of business at the Emirates.
Indeed, Nuno Tavares has just left Arsenal for Lazio, and speaking after his move, the £7m man has admitted that Guendouzi actually influenced his move to Lazio, claiming that Guendouzi made it easier for him to accept the move to Rome after selling the club to him.

Mateo Guendouzi influenced Nuno Tavares move
The left-back spoke about how Guendouzi influenced his move.
“We never crossed paths at Arsenal, but I did know Guendouzi from our time at Marseille. We had a great rapport and remained in contact. I did talk to him about Lazio and that made it easier for me to accept this move,” Tavares said.
Guendouzi and Tavares could’ve been Arsenal teammates
As Tavares says, he never crossed paths with Guendouzi at Arsenal, but in another world, he could have been playing alongside the Frenchman at the Emirates.
There have been a number of incidents and performances that have led to both Tavares and Guendouzi ending up at Lazio, and the fact that Arsenal have quickly moved on from players like this is a testament to their recent progression.
Arsenal, with all due respect, are now a level above Lazio, and players like Guendouzi and Tavares have no business playing for Mikel Arteta’s side these days.
Both players will be solid options for Lazio this season, but to play for Arsenal these days you need to be a seriously talented footballer capable of competing at the very top level in the Premier League and Champions League.
