Aaron Ramsdale has been at the centre of a real storm at Arsenal as of late.
The England international has been dropped in favour of David Raya by Mikel Arteta, and, in all honesty, he’d have every right to be fed up.
Indeed, Ramsdale hasn’t been treated the way a player of his calibre should be, and, in our view, he’d be justified in kicking up a fuss and looking for a move.
However, speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast, Dean Jones has stated that the goalkeeper isn’t actually likely to leave Arsenal in January, despite the fact Chelsea are being touted as a potential destination.

Ramsdale not likely to leave
Jones shared what he knows about the goalkeeper.
“There is doubt around Aaron Ramsdale, what I would say is that it’s unlikely he does end up leaving in January. Chelsea is the prime place being talked about for Aaron Ramsdale to go. We’re talking about a £60m transfer when Aaron Ramsdale does leave Arsenal and Chelsea are starting to open up to the idea of signing a new goalkeeper in 2024 and an elite one,” Jones said.
Where could he go?
Ramsdale isn’t likely to leave in January, but even if he did get the greenlight to go in the winter, he’d be short of options.
Barring injury crises, it’s very rare that you see a top club sign a new goalkeeper halfway through a season, and, right now, almost every top club in Europe has a set number one.
The fact that David De Gea hasn’t been able to find a new club tells you all you need to know. There simply isn’t a market for these players right now.
Ramsdale is in limbo, and while he probably does need a move, it doesn’t sound like he’ll get it.
All Ramsdale can do is keep working hard in training and hope to regain his place.
