Arsenal are looking for a new midfielder this summer.
The Gunners have been linked with a number of potential options, and perhaps the most intriguing link has been to Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi.
The Spaniard has been a target for Arsenal for a long time now, with the first links dating back almost 18 months now.
Speaking on KS1TV, Steve Kay has been discussing Arsenal’s interest in Zubimendi, and he says that conversations with the player’s agents have happened this summer.
Unfortunately though, no concrete progress has been made on this front, claiming that the answer Arsenal have received is the same as last summer – Martin Zubimendi wants to stay at Real Sociedad.
Martin Zubimendi won’t be joining Arsenal
Kay shared what he’s heard about the £60m man.
“Arsenal have never gone away. They have always been interested in him. They have spoken to his representatives this summer, but unfortunately Arsenal have now got the same answer they got last summer that he doesn’t want to leave Real Sociedad,” Kay said.
“I think at 25 he could go up a level, but sadly it looks like this one has gone out of the window.”

Zubimendi deal will never be easy
Unfortunately for Arsenal or any other interested club, getting Zubimendi out of San Sebastian will never be easy.
The player is a local lad playing for a Basque club, there’s a massive amount of pride attached to that, and you often see the teams such as Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao able to keep hold of their star players.
Zubimendi may eventually decide that he has to move on, but, for the moment, it looks as though he’s set on staying at his boyhood club.
Zubimendi is a talented player who is more than capable of playing for a top side, but a move to Arsenal isn’t on the cards this summer.
