£59m would get Liverpool the 'perfect' midfielder who wants Anfield move, fans should be buzzing - TBR View
Liverpool could do with bolstering their midfield ranks come the summer.
Although the Reds are strong in that area – as they are all across the pitch – there’s certainly scope to strengthen.
Jordan Henderson is 31 and James Milner is 36, so Jurgen Klopp should look at potential first-team ready successors.
And one player reportedly on Liverpool’s radar would definitely arrive at Anfield to much fanfare.
That player is Aurelien Tchouameni, one of the best young midfielders in world football.
French outlet Foot Mercato recently claimed that Liverpool have made contact with the Monaco star’s camp.
Klopp reportedly reckons Tchouameni would be an ideal successor to Henderson and Milner.
Now, a report by Spanish outlet AS – via Sport Witness – claims Liverpool could pick him up for under £60m.
Real Madrid have reportedly found out that Monaco’s asking price is €70m (£59m), and that’s too much for them.
Juventus would also struggle with that fee, while Chelsea would have to wait until new owners are in place, added the report.
This would leave a clearer path for Liverpool for Tchouameni.
“Very interested in Liverpool”
Admittedly, there are plenty of clubs reportedly eyeing the 22-year-old.
However, the Reds would surely have a huge pull by virtue of being regular title and Champions League challengers.
And as we’ve seen with Ibrahima Konate and Luis Diaz, Klopp is always willing to give game time to young new arrivals.
That said, Tchouameni is apparently eager to join Liverpool.
Journalist Santi Aouna recently told Empire of the Kop: “For the moment, there is just some contact with his agent. Monaco knows it too. The player is very interested in Liverpool.
“If Aurelien Tchouameni has managed to become regular in his performances, it is also because over time he has settled into a role that suits him better.
“Positioned higher on the pitch, his athletic and technical abilities allow him to bring a real plus offensively without neglecting defensive tasks. He is mature in and off the pitch. Complete player.”
“He’s really, really good”
Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Tchouameni would be “perfect” for the Premier League.
He told Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE: “Premier League clubs want him since long time.
“Tchouameni was top of Chelsea’s list last summer.
“It was impossible to sign Tchouameni because Monaco didn’t want to sell him. Now they are open to sell.
“At the moment, everything is still open.
“But my personal opinion, whoever signs Tchoumaneni will get a fantastic signing.
“In my opinion he’s really, really good and perfect for the Premier League.”
