Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on reported Liverpool target Aurelien Tchouameni.

The transfer guru was speaking about the Monaco midfielder on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE.

In February, Tuttosport – via Sport Witness – initially claimed Liverpool were ‘very close’ to Franck Kessie.

However, they then said Liverpool are ‘now more interested’ in Tchouameni.

In November, TuttoJuve reported that the Frenchman would boast a £42million price tag.

When Georginio Wijnaldum left Liverpool on a free transfer last year, Jurgen Klopp opted to promote from within.

The likes of Curtis Jones and Tyler Morton have been doing incredibly well for the Reds.

Nonetheless, there’s certainly scope for Klopp to bring in fresh legs in midfield during the summer.

However, many other elite clubs appear to be in pursuit of the 22-year-old.

“He’s perfect for the Premier League”

On FIVE, Joel Beya asked Romano whether the Tchouameni to Real Madrid rumour had legs or whether it was too soon for him.

“It’s not agreed yet, first of all,” replied Romano.

“I heard some rumours saying he has an agreement on personal terms with Real Madrid.

“From what I’m told he has no agreement with any club.”

Romano also said Manchester United were not thought to be plotting a move for Tchouameni this summer.

However, he stressed this would depend on whoever comes in to take the reins at Old Trafford.

Romano then continued to talk about reported interest from Real as well as PSG and the Premier League.

“Real Madrid sent their scouts to watch this boy more than three times in the last few months,” he continued.

“PSG are monitoring him, he’s French and they need a midfielder so it could be an option.

“Premier League clubs want him since long time… Tchouameni was top of Chelsea’s list last summer.

“It was impossible to sign Tchouameni because Monaco didn’t want to sell him. Now they are open to sell.

“At the moment, everything is still open but my personal opinion, whoever signs Tchoumaneni will get a fantastic signing.

“In my opinion he’s really, really good and perfect for the Premier League.”
