Some Newcastle United fans were voicing their discontent after a report emerged over Celtic’s demands for transfer target defender Kristoffer Ajer.
According to The Daily Record, the Bhoys are looking for £16m to part ways with the Norway international. It proves to be quite a steep demand from the Glasgow giants with the centre-half possessing just a year on his contract.
Ajer has endured a miserable season with the green and white half of Glasgow, finishing a staggering 25 points behind rivals Rangers.
The 23-year-old, himself, has suffered from Coronavirus and a groin injury and missed small parts of the campaign. He was on show to the Newcastle scouts earlier this month during the loss to Steven Gerrard’s team and drew criticism for his part in the build-up to the second goal from Kris Boyd.
Newcastle need to target a better defender than Ajer in the transfer market
After his performances for Celtic this season, the Geordies would do well to target another centre-half option than the Norwegian.
After a season of fighting relegation, Steve Bruce will want to improve upon his current options and sadly after this term, Ajer doesn’t prove to be the smartest transfer target for Newcastle.

He’ll leave for free next summer.
One is gonna pay that.
They'll get £10 at most him and the young CB from Fulham would be my additions at CB this window— Joel Jackson (@JoelJackson89) May 26, 2021
Would rather keep Lejeune— Mr Michael (@MichaelMidd90) May 26, 2021
Honestly is he better than what we have? I dont think he is?— ollie (@holst24) May 26, 2021
