Fabrizio Romano shares what he’s heard about Kieran Trippier’s future at Newcastle amid Turkey interest

Newcastle United now have just a matter of hours remaining to offload any final players before the windows across the world finally shut.

It was a hugely underwhelming summer transfer window for Eddie Howe and his side who did not see his squad improved.

If anything, Newcastle fans may well argue that the Toon actually got weaker over the summer following their two big sales due to the PSR scares in June.

With Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh departing the club, Newcastle really failed in their efforts to add major players to Howe’s squad.

However, there is still an opportunity for further playrs to depart the club with the likes of the Turkish market still open for business.

Kieran Trippier has been linked with Newcastle exit

With hours remaining in the Turkish market, Kieran Trippier has been linked with a potential move to Turkey over the coming days.

It has been a summer of speculation for the former England international with Trippier believed to be open to leaving Newcastle.

But the clock is now ticking for the right-back with his options now extremely limited with most of the markets shut.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Trippier is now expected to remain at Newcastle ahead of Friday’s deadline in Turkey.

“I now see Kieran Trippier staying at Newcastle now and maybe assessing his future again in 2025,” Romano said in his Daily Briefing.

“There’s no agreement with any Turkish clubs so far – it’s true that there has been plenty of interest but there are concrete chances for Trippier to stay at St James’ Park.”

Kieran Trippier has an important role to play at Newcastle

It has been a difficult start to the season for Trippier who has only made one appearance in the Premier League which provided 32 minutes of action.

Clearly, the momentum has now swung in Tino Livramento’s favour at right-back under Howe this season with the youngster picking up the starts.

However, Trippier still has an important role to play in maintaining a good example of himself around the club if he is to stay.

It’s believed Trippier informed Howe he wanted to leave Newcastle, but if that does not pan out then he must carry himself in a professional manner as an opportunity could arise if Livramento is to pick up an injury.
