Although Manchester United aren’t having the best time right now, many of today’s football fans grew up in an era of their dominance.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side were constantly winning trophies whilst showcasing some of the best players in the world.

And lots of fans in their twenties and thirties today will remember a time when Man United winning games almost felt inevitable.

Erik ten Hag’s team don’t exactly protrude the same swagger, but they’ll hope that good times are around the corner.

That being said, one Premier League star has now admitted that he’s a Manchester United fan, a player who would perhaps be very welcome in the club’s eleven.

Speaking to Stadium Astro, Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White confessed his love for United and mentioned his idols growing up.

Gibbs-White said: “I grew up supporting Manchester United, that was my Dad’s team when he was growing up so I thought of followed in those footsteps.

“So yeah I had fun supporting them when I was younger, you know, they were winning trophies, had some of the best players in their teams.

“But I think my idol was Paul Scholes or Wayne Rooney, those were sort of the key players when I was a kid growing up.”

Of course, 23-year-old Gibbs-White would be a very useful player at United as mentioned.

Although he’s experiencing a quieter season this time around, the £43m midfielder was crucial to Forest’s survival last season.

And growing up a Manchester United fan, perhaps he could have a future at the club somewhere down the line.

However, in the here and now it does seem as if ten Hag’s squad needs a January boost.

Perhaps departures could be as important at those coming in during the window.

And Ally McCoist has actually now named four players he believes United should be swiftly moving on.

Although it’s been a disappointing start, the season is definitely still salvageable for United.

Luke Shaw’s form has been a boost since returning from injury.

And when the likes of Lisandro Martinez also return the situation will look a lot stronger.
