The Thomas Frank era at Tottenham is about to get going, and the new manager will be looking for fresh signings to kickstart this new dawn.

Spurs have been linked with some interesting additions already this summer.

Kota Takai is set to sign from Japan, and, by all accounts, Takai could be a bit of a gem.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are also interested in Koni De Winter. However, the most exciting signings are always attacking additions.

Mohammed Kudus has been linked to Spurs in recent times, and according to Tom Barclay, this is a move that could well go ahead.

Indeed, speaking on his YouTube channel, Barclay has claimed that there is a big chance that Kudus does become a Tottenham player this summer.

Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham has a ‘big chance’ of happening

Barclay spoke about Kudus and his potential move to Tottenham.

The journalist says he gets the feeling that there’s a big chance of this deal happening, claiming that West Ham need to sell in order to fund a rebuild of the squad under Graham Potter this summer.

Kudus joined West Ham for £38m back in 2023, and his value will have only increased since then.

“Yeah, Kudus, he is the one at the moment we’re waiting to see and it feels like it has a big chance of happening. Primarily because West Ham, who want to do a rebuild under Graham Potter, are strapped for cash, in terms of breaching PSR rules, so they probably do need to sell,” Barclay said.

West Ham’s recent transfer spending

Barclay says that West Ham need to sell in order to comply with PSR while simultaneously funding a rebuild for Graham Potter, and that’s not surprising to hear.

Indeed, as poor as the Hammers were last season, they spent a lot of money over the summer on new players.

West Ham summer 2024 signingsFee
Luis Guillherme£25m
Max Kilman£40m
Crysencio Summerville£25m
Niclas Fullkrug£27m

On top of that, West Ham also spent big the year before.

Edson Alvarez£35m
James Ward-Prowse£30m
Kostas Mavropanos£20m
Mohammed Kudus£38m
Total spend£123m

Of course, the summer of 2023 spending was largely offset by the sale of Declan Rice, but even if you go back to the beginning of the three-year PSR cycle, you can see that West Ham have been spending huge amounts for a long time.

West Ham summer 2022 signingsFee
Nayef Aguerd£30m
Alphonse Areola£8m
Flynn Downes£10m
Gianluca Scamacca£32m
Emerson£13m
Maxwel Cornet£18m

This sort of spending will catch up with you in the end, and now, it may be time for the Hammers to cash in on Kudus, which gives Tottenham a serious window of opportunity.
