Arsenal have established themselves as genuine title challengers under Mikel Arteta’s stewardship and are certainly one of the favourites this season.

The Gunners narrowly missed out to Manchester City last term but they’re on course to have an impressive summer transfer window.

Riccardo Calafiori has already joined Arsenal and Mikel Merino could follow him, so their squad is in really good shape at the moment.

Arteta has changed the mood around Colney and even brought in a dog named Win to help harness a winning mentality.

That said, it’s just emerged that one of his players is also drawing inspiration from F1 star Max Verstappen.

Jurrien Timber draws inspiration Max Verstappen

Speaking in a recent interview with NBC Sports, Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber revealed that he takes a lot of inspiration from Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen.

“Yeah I like to look at winners, in the NBA you see them a lot but for example Max Verstappen as well,” Timber said.

“Sometimes you see his interviews after games and you’re like ‘wow’, this guy is such a big winner and I love to see that and I love to see his comments about things that happen after a race.”

When asked if that can translate into a winning mentality among the Arsenal squad, the Dutchman said: “Yeah definitely, I think we have it a lot already, we have a lot of winners and leadership in the group already but it’s always good to add I think.”

Jurrien Timber will be like a new signing

Arsenal signed Timber from Ajax last summer but unfortunately, he was ruled out for the season after picking up an injury on his debut.

Now, after a long rehabilitation process, the Netherlands international is back and firing in pre-season and will certainly feel like a new signing.

Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu will certainly have a tough time trying to keep him out of the side.
