£30m player left out of squad just days after Tottenham make contact to sign him

Remarkably, Tottenham are still yet to hand Ange Postecoglou a new signing this month.

The Australian finds himself under pressure in N17 after a worrying 3-2 defeat against Everton on Sunday, which leaves Spurs 15th in the Premier League after 22 games.

In fairness to Ange Postecoglou, he has been forced to deal with a quite unbelievable injury crisis, with his preferred defensive duo of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven sidelined since the 4-3 defeat against Chelsea on December 8th.

Spurs are also currently without Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, Timo Werner, Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma and Wilson Odobert.

Now – however – a player Tottenham are keen to sign in Milan Skriniar has suddenly been dropped at PSG just days after Spurs made an approach.

Luis Enrique drops Milan Skriniar from PSG squad to face Manchester City

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that the Slovakia international has been dropped from the PSG squad to face Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday evening.

The reliable Italian journalist adds that Tottenham asked PSG what it would take to sign Skriniar just a matter of days ago – so the timing of this development is very interesting.

Spurs do – however – also face competition from Galatasaray and Napoli.

Romano wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “Milan Skriniar, not even called up by Luis Enrique for PSG to face Man City. Galatasaray and Napoli remain options for Skriniar in the final days of the window. Tottenham asked for deal conditions days ago.”

Skriniar, who Antonio Conte wanted at Tottenham, has made five appearances in Ligue 1 for PSG this season – and has also been named on the bench in all six of their UEFA Champions League clashes – so it intrigues us to see Enrique drop the Slovakian from the matchday squad entirely on this occasion.

How much Milan Skriniar could cost Tottenham

A story from Caught Offside states that PSG have placed a €35m (£30m) price tag on the 29-year-old.

Despite the fact Skriniar has fallen out of favour under Enrique, he is still tied to PSG until June 2028, so the French giants are well within their rights to request such a fee for a player considered one of Europe’s best defenders not too long ago.

TBR Football understand Galatasaray currently lead the race to sign Skriniar – so Tottenham have work to do if they intend on bringing the man from Ziar nad Hronom to N17 before the February 3rd transfer deadline.
