Liverpool are the only team in the Premier League yet to make a signing this summer.

The Reds have been inactive in the transfer window so far.

Liverpool tried to sign Martin Zubimendi, but that deal fell through, and now, the Reds are looking at targets in other positions.

Giorgi Mamardashvili has been strongly linked to Liverpool, and according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on The Debrief, there is a very realistic chance that this deal gets done.

According to Jacobs, this deal is looking more and more likely to get done.

“Mamardashvili I think there is a very realistic chance that one gets done. They’re trying to get ahead of the market because they know that if Jan Oblak leaves Atletico Madrid between now and the summer of 2025, they will be in for the same player as well.”

Liverpool need to act fast on Mamardashvili

Liverpool don’t plan to integrate Mamardashvili this season, but they may need to act quickly to get this deal done.

As Jacobs says, Atletico Madrid are lurking in the race to sign Mamardashvili, and that is a dangerous situation for Liverpool to be in.

Atletico Madrid have made a number of statement signings already this summer, and Mamardashvili could come in if Oblak departs.

Oblak is apparently available for £26m this summer, so there is a chance that the Atletico Madrid number one departs, and if he does go, Madrid will step up their interest in Mamardashvili.

Mamardashvili to Liverpool looks like it could be on the cards this summer, but the Reds need to act quickly if they want to get this deal done.

This is certainly an interesting transfer story to keep an eye on, and Mamardashvili could well be the Reds’ first signing of the summer transfer window.
