24-year-old Tottenham man spotted in training for the first time this season, he’s never played for Conte
Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur squad have returned to training ahead of the Premier League restarting.
Tottenham’s senior players that haven’t travelled to the World Cup were all in attendance.
Spurs fans will be glad to see Dejan Kulusevski back involved after his injury troubles this season.
New signings Yves Bissouma and Djed Spence can both be seen chatting as they prepare for a return to action.
A number of young players are involved too as Conte looks to bolster his numbers to make up for players being in Qatar.
Full-back Kallum Cesay was involved, as was young forward Yago Santiago who has had a fine season at under-21 level.
However, a player who hasn’t been at the club all season was also involved as part of the goalkeeping sessions.
24-year-old stopper Alfie Whiteman was back in training at Tottenham.
Whiteman always been a back-up keeper in his time at Spurs, and has now returned to training after time away from north London.
Whiteman back in training at Tottenham
In the clip shared by Tottenham, Whiteman can be seen warming-up alongside Fraser Forster and Brandon Austin.
Whiteman had spent the 18 months on loan at Swedish top-flight side Degerfors.
The 24-year-old was first choice between the sticks for the majority of his spell at the club.
However, he lost his place in the final eight games, that coincided with an unbeaten run for Degerfors.
He managed just two clean sheets in 21 games this season, but was playing for one of the league’s weakest sides.
White being back in training at Tottenham is unlikely to make much difference to the goalkeeping hierarchy at the club.
He’s never played for Conte, and has managed just eight first-team minutes in his Spurs career.
Whiteman was brought off the bench for a Champions League tie against Ludogorets in 2020.
He only has six months left on his contract, and looks likely to leave Spurs next summer.
Tottenham may look to send him out on loan again, or allow him to train with the senior side to attempt to earn an extension.
