£22m Tottenham player spotted in tears last night and looking heartbroken

Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-Min has already been spotted on his way back to London following South Korea’s Asian Cup exit.

Son played 90 minutes as his country were knocked out by Jordan in the semi-final last night.

Jurgen Klinsmann ultimately failed to give Son and his teammates the platform to win the tournament, with his tactics heavily criticised in the fall out of the defeat.

And just hours after Son’s side were eliminated, the captain was spotted walking through the airport heading back to London to resume for Spurs.

In a video shared on X, Son could be seen looking very upset as he presumably walked to his terminal.

Of course, Tottenham fans will surely be hoping that their top four and perhaps even title challenge can cheer Son up in the coming weeks.

Perhaps it’s now not impossible to think that Son will play some kind of role against Brighton & Hove Albion on the weekend.

However, it seems much more likely that Son’s first start back at the club will be against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the game after.

Of course, Spurs have actually coped better than expected whilst Son has been away.

Ange Postecoglou will have been disappointed not to secure all three points at Goodison Park last weekend, but it’s hard to blame his forward line for that.

Richarlison has been brilliant of late, a player who has finally found his confidence again.

Alan Shearer was pretty blown away by the Brazilian’s form at Everton, particularly enjoying his long-range finish.

However, Spurs will want to avoid Guglielmo Vicario’s recent difficulty under set-piece pressure becoming a trend.

But in fairness, goalkeeping experts have now been defending the goalkeeper’s approach.

Either way, Son’s return to Tottenham will be incredibly welcome, even if it’s unfortunately at South Korea’s expense on this occasion.

But with their £22m captain back in the fold, and Micky van de Ven and James Maddison now fit and firing, this will be the most complete Postecoglou team we’ve seen yet.

And it does also seem as if another familiar face around Hotspur Way could be ready for an important return.
